LYNCH/PILSON Project: "Exceeding Expectations"
January 4, 2002Former DOKKEN bassist Jeff Pilson and guitarist George Lynch will be getting back together in a week or so to begin finishing up the songwriting sessions for the debut CD from their as-yet-unnamed new band. According to Pilson, we hope to be done with everything by March and, depending on the record label, etc., have it out by late spring/early summer. The three songs we have finished are blowing everyone away, not least of all ourselves! The response, in fact, has been so positive that our hopes for this record may exceed our original expectations. That would be great. And I'm especially happy with the direction the music is taking. There's definitely an old DOKKEN-LYNCH MOB feel/sound to it, but I think a lot of that is George's spark. It's red hot these days, and just can't help but bring you into that same exciting place his playing always brought you to. This is his best playing, that I'm familiar with anyways, in years! It looks like we'll be making an appearance at NAMM together this year, probably on Sat. the 19th.
